The European Parliament approved new rules for the design, production and waste management of all types of batteries sold in the EU. Key measures include a compulsory carbon footprint label for EV batteries, designing batteries in consumer electronics to be replaceable by the user, or stricter waste collection and material recovery targets. At GAZ, we welcome a consistent regulatory framework to be put in place. Also, we already comply with the foreseen regulation relevant to Ni-Cd technology.
The initiative has been the main topic at the recent EUROBAT - Association of European Automotive and Industrial Battery Manufacturers conference in Madrid where we also discussed the latest innovations and future applications of battery tech, or how battery storage contributes to global decarbonization efforts.
